Another fabulous female textile designer I learned about today is Carolina Irving who sort of reminds me of John Robshaw in her patterns but her touch is much lighter. Her Andaluz print is on 100% hemp and is hand-printed.
Above is in Paprika, below is Lichen, which I also really like.
It seems natural that Carolina was once Design Editor at House and Garden and has had a very well-rounded background and education. I think her art historical background obviously contributes to her skill of identifying great patterns that will work in multiple color palletes.
The Patmos Stripe above I could see at any beach house.
The above is just Patmos and I adore the stippling effect. I am nursing a serious dot problem. I wish she made tunics and pillows, maybe curtains or a folding screen too!
*Update* The Irving and Fine site it up — no online shop yet but it says coming soon — can’t wait: www.irvingandfine.com

Carolina Irving does make tunics in partnership with the designer Lisa Fine. Their web site is under construction right now — IrvingndFIne.com
